Connector Spotlight: Reece Fallon
December 13, 2021

Q. Tell us a bit about what you’re working on.
We are currently full steam ahead on the hiring train and are looking to add the newest group of talented Connectors to the 100+ we’ve hired this year already!
I am also working on updating, modernizing, and migrating our current ATS (Applicant Tracking System) over to a new one. This will allow us to have far more extensive reporting capabilities in fields such as DE&I, Time to Hire, Sources of Hires, and more.
In addition, I am excited to help expand the Connected brand nationwide. Due to our shift to hiring and working Canada wide, we are targeting a variety of different ways to increase the Connected presence coast to coast across the country.
Last but not least, I am also working on growing and scaling our current recruitment team – so if anyone knows of any great recruiters, feel free to send them my way!
Q. What’s the most interesting challenge at the moment?
Due to the fact that we are both agnostic when it comes to technology and industry, it definitely keeps us on our toes. With the diverse breadth of candidates we speak with on a daily basis, we are pivoting throughout the day supporting different candidates and hiring teams for the multitude of roles and seniorities we are hiring for. I could have several screening calls in a day and they could all be for different positions, so it’s important we are constantly up-to-date and knowledgeable in regards to how each position works at Connected and the skillset required to be successful.
Q. What achievement are you most proud of in your career to date?
A very recent accomplishment of guiding the recruitment team of three to 100+ hires already this year, in addition to seeing how successful we have been as a business, and how much the Connected team has grown in 2021.
Outside of work, it would be achieving a scholarship for soccer to allow me to play all around the United States alongside obtaining both a Bachelors and Masters degree.
Q. Do you have a mantra you live by?
Don’t go in your mind, where your body is not.
Q. What do you love to do outside of work?
Sports, sports and more sports! Outside of work you will most likely find me either in the gym, playing Soccer/Golf/Darts, or watching my beloved Arsenal.
Q. If you were stuck on a deserted island, what album, movie, and book would you take with you?
It would be Maverick Sabre’s Lonely are the Brave, Wedding Crashers because who doesn’t love Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughan, and the book I’d bring with me is The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett (and try to sneak the rest of The Kingsbridge series with me).
Q. Describe yourself in three words.
Driven, lighthearted, and fun.
Q. And finally, what’s your favourite product and why?
Easily the Airpod Pros – I can’t imagine going to the gym or for a run with wired headphones anymore. They make everyday tasks that much easier and I love the noise cancelation feature when I really need to concentrate.

Plugging In: How Going Remote-First Is Challenging Our Engineers to Collaborate More Deliberately
Going remote-first isn’t just giving our engineers the freedom to do their best work. It’s challenging them to define what and how they’ll achieve it, forcing them to work together more deliberately - in pairs and across projects. And that’s an excellent thing.

Connector Spotlight: Ryan Lim
What does Ryan Lim, Director of Engineering, Practice, do outside of work? Most might know that he is occupied with video games, but you likely didn’t know that he’s also quite the handyman. While he’d describe himself as chill, curious, and creative, knowing that he can renovate floors, tile, drywall, electrical and plumbing, we’d also like to add capable to that list. Whether it’s letting his imagination flow while working on a project or playing with his favourite stackable blocks (can you guess what his favourite product is?), rest assured that the only vendetta from Ryan you need to worry about is in a movie. Discover more about Ryan in this week’s Connector Spotlight!
